About

The new cultural space in the heart of the Danube Delta, the Ivan Patzaichin Museum – Community Innovation Center, built on the footprint of Ivan Patzaichin's parents' house, in the village of Mila 23, celebrates the successes of the great champion and provides a framework for exposing his concerns regarding the Delta, for encouraging and expressing the culture and traditions of the Lipovans from Mila 23 and for the promotion of the fragile biodiversity of the Danube Delta.

Through education projects and providing a space for artistic and research residencies, the Museum will become an essential pillar in the life of the community and will contribute to the evolution of the Danube Delta and the well-being of its inhabitants, offering all protected natural areas in the country a model of an institution based on modern principles of community collaboration.

WILD TRAVEL is a Romanian company that promotes ecotourism in the Danube Delta. Founded by the ornithologist Mihai Baciu, the company organizes tours in the Danube Delta, based on bird watching, wildlife photography or simply relaxing in nature, with its own or rented boats. Mihai BACIU is the manager of the company and the main guide. He is a nature photographer, ornithologist and writer, having published 4 books about the birds of the Danube Delta and its surroundings, with the photographs he took over the years. He was a ranger in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, where he got his passion for bird watching and guiding tourists. The books are written in Romanian and translated into Italian, English, French and German. In the pages of the books there are more than 300 species of birds that can also be seen in the tours organized by the company. Mihai is also the captain of the company's main vessel called "CODRUTZ". He speaks French, Italian and English. Valentina BACIU is Mihai's wife, being the cook of the ship "CODRUTZ". Valentina is a passionate cook, a former participant in the Romanian show "MasterChef", but she is also a very good connoisseur of the delta, being originally from the Lipovi Russian community, which forms the majority of the delta's inhabitants. Beyond her passion for cooking, Valentina is also a good storyteller, a very good future ornithologist and photographer. He has extensive experience in traveling, climbed Everest (not to the top...), visited almost all of Africa and Asia. He speaks English, Russian and Italian.
