Avramide House is a component of the Northern Dobrogean Cultural Heritage Museum Complex that belongs to the "Gavrilă Simion" Tulcea Eco-Museum Research Institute. This superb house, known among Tulceni as the House of Collections, was built at the end of the 19th century by Alexandru Avramide, of Greek ethnicity. This was a prosperous local entrepreneur, who owned several mills, workshops, various commercial premises, a sawmill, but also several agricultural areas. Alexandru Avramide is known to have arrived in the city of Tulcea in the middle of the 19th century, driven by a strong ambition and tenacity, which would later make him one of the richest people in the entire region. Around 1890, Avramide managed to bring two Italian craftsmen to the area, to whom he entrusted everything necessary to build the house he dreamed of as a symbol of the family's prosperity. From that moment and until the edifice became the most beautiful construction in the city, not much time passed. Located right in the center of the city of Tulcea, right next to the Church of Saint Nicholas, the house, considered luxurious, stood out especially for the rooms on the lower level. They are decorated with painted stucco, painted ceilings and benefit from doors in two wings, two main facades, and on one of them you can see an imposing staircase made of marble mosaic. After 1944, the house was transformed into the headquarters of the Greek Democratic Committee, and on November 14, 1949, the act was signed that created the "Danube Delta" Museum, which was officially opened only on May 1, 1950 The museum occupied two rooms in the entire building and had 872 complementary materials or objects in its heritage. Between 1952-1953, the School Inspectorate of Tulcea county carried out its activity in the same building. Because it was only in 1957 that the first reorganizations of the museum took place. From 1959, a special department of archeology and ethnography operated at the site of the building, but it was closed in 1962. Since 1964, when the aquarium tanks were built at the site of the building, together with the addition of a collection consisting of 1500 biological pieces , plus a voluminous herbarium, the house functioned in its complexity as a natural science museum. Recently the edifice was rehabilitated through a project called "Restoration and Rehabilitation of two heritage buildings from the municipality of Tulcea included in the regional tourist circuits" offering today, through a modern exhibition, the main historical elements of the city of Tulcea, but also of the family Avramides. Also here, various heritage objects from the collections of the Eco-Museum Research Institute "Gavilă Simion" Tulcea are perfectly displayed.

“I am happy that I can leave behind memories related to my work as a teacher, as a supporter of the cultural life of Tulcea and especially as a creative one. My drawings, lithographs and watercolors, the result of more than five decades of work, constitute the gift I leave, out of love, respect and gratitude to the places and people of Tulcea, among whom I lived with my loved ones.” wrote the artist Constantin Găvenea in his autobiography, published in 1988 and entitled “Days Lived with Moments of Sadness”. The building that today houses the “Constantin Găvenea” Memorial House was built in the first decades of the 20th century. The Tulcea artist lived in this house since the fall of 1942, following his detachment from the town of Sarichioi, settling in the city of Tulcea with his family. The house, restored by the Tulcea City Hall, contains five exhibition halls (a hall and four rooms), as well as the master's workshop in the courtyard of the house. Personal objects, manuscripts, books and albums with dedications, photographs, original documents and photocopies are exhibited, all closely related to the life and work of Constantin Găvenea. There are also lithographs, paintings and watercolors executed by the artist in all stages of his creation. The establishment of the Constantin Găvenea Memorial House is considered a tribute to the Great Man, as an example worthy of imitation, a symbolic character of this North-Dobrudzian land that we can be proud of in front of the whole of Europe. The "Danube Delta" Ecotourism Museum Center in Tulcea opened its doors to the public on February 25, 2009. Conceived as a complex cultural institution (museum and public aquarium), this wonderful center was created as part of a project carried out by the Program of Romania-Ukraine Neighborhood 2004-2006. The tour of the museum lasts at least an hour, with visitors having the opportunity to learn about the natural and socio-cultural heritage existing in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. Thus, in a welcoming and relaxing setting, on the ground and first floor of the museum, visitors have the opportunity to learn about representative aspects of the Danube Delta: the history of its formation, the stages of inhabitation of the deltaic land, the natural environment (flora, fauna, landscapes), occupations traditional customs of the inhabitants of the delta, as well as general tourist information. Species from the flora and fauna of the Danube Delta are presented in a setting that faithfully reproduces the characteristic habitats of the three morphofunctional units of the delta: the fluvial delta, the fluvial-marine delta and the Razim-Sinoe lagoon complex, the visitor being transposed into the wonderful nature of the delta and through the voices of the birds echoing from each diorama. The permanent exhibition also includes two dioramas that present characteristic aspects of the habitats, flora and fauna of other protected areas of national importance in the Dobrogea Plateau, with particular emphasis on the Măcin Mountains National Park. The AQUARIUM, located at the base of the building, is the main attraction of the museum and houses a collection of fish from the delta fauna, as well as exotic, freshwater and marine fish. Aquariums with fish and invertebrate species found in coral reefs are among the most impressive. Through a system of two cylindrical aquariums, arranged concentrically, visitors, and especially children, have the opportunity to experience being for a few minutes in the middle of a reef, surrounded by sharks, fish and corals of varied and impressive shapes and colors , which will delight their eyes. The same sensations can be experienced by going through the tunnel related to the largest pool in the aquarium, where you can admire species of sturgeon, considered to be among the most primitive fish still living on the globe today. Additional information about the aspects presented in the basic exhibition and ecological tourism in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve can be obtained through the info-kiosks, located on each level of the visit, the documentaries running permanently on the displays, the images from the natural and archaeological sites, or explanatory panels. Information from the permanent exhibition is presented in Romanian, English and German. The center also has a reception room with free, wireless access, and for people with locomotor disabilities, an access ramp, elevator and appropriate sanitary facilities are provided. Upon exiting the Center, visitors have the opportunity to purchase various souvenirs, represented by views, albums, maps, small artifacts or handicrafts made by the locals. The Museum Center is without a doubt one of the most important tourist attractions in Tulcea and a place not to be missed, especially for families with children.

Tulcea City Hall has set up the permanent outdoor historical exhibition "Tulcea of ​​the past" on the fence of the city Penitentiary. The exhibition was made through a partnership between the Municipality of Tulcea, the Tulcea Penitentiary, the County Directorate for Culture and the "Gavrilă Simion" Eco-Museum Research Institute. It consists of panels printed with photos from the history of the city and the related explanations and extends over a length of 221m, with a lighting system including at night.

"IVAN PATZAICHIN" PROMENADE The promenade of Tulcea has recently gone through an extensive renovation and modernization process. This is named after "Ivan Patzaichin", the great Romanian canoeist and one of the most successful athletes in the world. Born and raised in the Danube Delta, of Lipovan ethnicity, during the 17 years dedicated to performance sports, he participated in 5 editions of the Olympic Games, being a quadruple gold laureate and triple silver laureate. The great Ivan passed away in 2021 and as a sign of appreciation for all the honor brought to Tulcea county and the whole of Romania, the cliff bears his name today. This is the heart of the city, a promenade for both locals and tourists. It is about 2km long and stretches from the Railway Station, one of the emblematic buildings of the city, to the memorial complex. "IVAN PATZAICHIN" MEMORIAL ENSEMBLE The memorial ensemble dedicated to the great Romanian champion was inaugurated in 2023 on the cliff that bears his name. Lake Zaghen is known among the people of Tulcea as a mini-delta or micro-delta. It is a place created artificially to shelter rare species and to practice slow tourism, especially oriented towards bird-watching. Unfortunately, the project did not reach its goal and is far from what it could be. Being right at the exit of the city towards Mahmudia-Murighiol and benefiting from the proximity of the Fisherman's Village, this area could be resuscitated and transformed into an ecotourism development pole.

The foundation stone was laid by King Carol I himself during his visit to Tulcea on October 17-18, 1879. On the parchment placed at the base of the foundation it was written: "The year of 1879, the month of October, in seventeen days, by His Royal Highness Carol I, Lord of Romania, this foundation stone of the monument erected in the city of Tulcea, in commemorating the annexation of Dobrogea by Romania." The execution of the monument was entrusted to the Romanian sculptor George Vasilescu. The funds necessary for the construction of the work came from the public collection, through the care of the "League for the preservation of Dobrogea" established in 1896 and led by Ioan Nenițescu and architect Grigore Tocilescu. The monument dedicated to the reunification of Dobrogea with Romania was designed in the form of a 22m obelisk, based on a two-step plinth topped by a pedestal. The obelisk was made of Ravenna granite, on it was the coat of arms of Romania surrounded by laurels, and below it two bronze plates commemorating the event in honor of which the monument was erected, as well as the date on which it was to be inaugurated. On one side and the other of the obelisk, on some semicircular pedestals, two other impressive sculptural elements were fixed - a dorobanț with a weapon on his shoulder and a horn in his hand, a symbol of the Romanian soldiers, and on the left an eagle, the main element of the coat of arms of Romania, symbol of courage and flight to heights. Both were cast in Venice, in bronze, in Munaretti's workshop. Due to the unexpected death of the sculptor in November 1898, the monument remained unfinished. It was continued, in the next two years, according to G. Vasilescu's plans by the sculptor Constantin Bălăcescu. Thus, in November 1899 the statue of the dorobant was brought to Tulcea and installed, and in 1900 the effigy of the eagle also arrived. The monument was inaugurated in a festive setting, on May 2, 1904, in the presence of the royal family. The mayor of the city, N. Comișani, then addressed the distinguished guests: "A wish of Your Majesty has been fulfilled: the towering Monument of the re-annexation of Dobrogea has risen on that beautiful rock designated by Your Majesty. He will speak to posterity of the bravery of the dorobant and of the Great Captain, our glorious King". Destroyed during the First World War by the occupation troops, the monument will be rebuilt in 1935 by the architect G.T. Ionescu, head of the city's technical service, according to the model located at the Military Museum in Bucharest at that time. Due to the lack of funds, the two sculptural elements - the dorobant and the eagle - were no longer made. On the occasion of the preparations for the celebration of the centenary of Romania's State Independence, the works to restore the monument also begin. Through the contribution of the people of Tulcea and the sculptor Cristea Grosu, the monument was created in its initial form and inaugurated on May 9, 1977. The Art Museum of Tulcea is housed in a neo-classical building, built between 1863-1865, as the administrative palace of the Sangeac de Tulcea, then also called Conacul Pașei. After the entry of Dobrogea into the composition of the Romanian state, in 1878 it became the seat of the Prefecture of Tulcea County, with the County Court, the body of Portărei and the Court of Jury on the ground floor. Between 1950-1970, the Tulcea District People's Council functioned here. It finally became the seat of the Art Museum on August 23, 1982. In total, the museum has seven main collections: modern and contemporary painting (932 works), modern and contemporary sculpture (420 works), icons of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries (797 works), modern and contemporary graphics (4016 works), plates of engravings, unique in the country (400 works), oriental art from the 18th and 19th centuries (311 pieces), decorative art from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries (139 pieces). The core strength of the painting collection is represented by the works of the avant-garde period: Hans Mattis Teutsch, Max Hermann Maxy, Marcel Iancu, Corneliu Michăilescu, culminating with the 14 works (10 paintings, four graphics) signed by the well-known artist of universal renown, Victor Brauner (surrealist painter, sculptor and poet born in Piatra-Neamț). As for the rich statuary heritage of the museum, it consists of 420 modern and contemporary sculptures. The works of artists Ion Georgescu, Dimitrie Paciurea, Frederic Storck, Alexandru Călinescu, Oscar Han, Milița Petrașcu, Emilian Celine, Constantin Baraschi, Romul Ladea, Ion Jalea stand out for their special value.

The Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art in Tulcea is today housed in the former headquarters of the National Bank of Romania - Tulcea Agency. The building is one of the emblematic public edifices for the municipality, constituting, together with other constructions, valuable examples of the architecture of national forms. The construction is based on a project developed in 1924 and was erected during the interwar period (1924-1927), so at the end of the era of manifestation of the national trend in Romanian architecture. This public edifice can be considered a successful example of modern architecture, built on traditional values, which marked the first part of the 20th century. The heritage of the Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art reflects, through the diversity of the collections, a unique cultural model generated by the ethnic coexistence between Romanians and other populations. The approximately 8600 pieces make up an invaluable ethnographic fund decodable within the collections of folk art and folk wear, ethnography, industrial heritage and photo-document. The museum has recently been rehabilitated, renovated and reopened and delights visitors with its collections of erasers, metal vessels, carpets and Aromanian folk art.

The Museum of History and Archeology of Tulcea is a main component of the "Gavrilă Simion" Eco-Museum Research Institute. Its founding act corresponds to the organization of the permanent exhibition of history and archeology in 1975, on the site of the ancient fortress of Aegyssus. Currently, the institution manages over 130,000 cultural assets gathered in five collections: Archaeology, Numismatics, Medals, Modern and Contemporary History, Old Books. Most of the pieces in the museum's exhibitions and warehouses were discovered during the archaeological researches organized in the ancient and medieval fortresses of Orgamè/Argamum, Noviodunum, Troesmis, Beroe, Halmyris, Ibida, Dinogetia, etc. The Archeology Collection brings together more than 53,000 pieces attributed to a time interval between the Paleolithic and the Middle Ages. They are relevant for the study and knowledge of the first sedentary communities in Europe, the great centers of ancient and medieval civilization and, last but not least, the inclusion of the northern Dobrogean territory in the complicated political and economic gear specific to the modern and contemporary world. The Numismatics collection includes over 69,000 ancient, medieval and modern pieces, among them the largest part of the impressive hoard from Uzun Baiîr with over 23,000 Tatar dirhems, 195 Byzantine hyperperes, 92 silver ingots and cakes, objects of gold and silver ornaments, in fact the largest hoard of its kind in Europe. The Modern and Contemporary History Collection groups together objects with historical and memorial value, documents, photographs, maps and newspapers illustrating political, military, economic-social and cultural aspects of Northern Dobrogea from the 19th-20th centuries. Among the most valuable assets recently acquired by the Tulcea Museum of History and Archeology are over 400 documents that present various aspects of the activity of the European Commission of the Danube and the Directorate of the Danube Maritime. The old book collection includes approximately 3,000 pieces, among which there are volumes from the category of rare foreign books (XVI-XVIII centuries), old Romanian books (XVII-XIX centuries) and modern books (XIX-XX centuries), first editions, ex - bookplates and books with autograph dedications, manuscripts, etc. RECOMMENDATION: Once here, after visiting the museum, you must also climb up to the Independence Monument to enjoy the most beautiful vantage point. Since 2023, Tulcea has a mountain bike circuit in the Bididia hill area. The arrangement of the route was carried out by the Tulcea City Hall and the Forestry Directorate. The circuit was officially inaugurated with the Aegyssus XCO Mountain-Bike Competition, remaining then at the disposal of all those who are passionate about this sport. It is good to know that the Bididia XCO competition circuit is 6 km long, with a 224 meter difference in level and a medium-advanced level of difficulty. It was inaugurated with the contest on July 1st, a competition that opened the series of sports actions within the largest sports event in the county.

It is located on Strada Isaccei and has an area of ​​99,800 square meters. It is the largest park in Tulcea Municipality and comes practically as an extension of the Ivan Patzaichin cliff. Many people from Tulcena choose to start their walk on the cliff and continue with "a round of the Mushroom". It is also the most frequented place for fishing enthusiasts. In addition to pedestrian walkways and a dedicated bike path, you will find here two dedicated children's play areas, a new gravity-park, a sandy beach equipped with parasols, a barbecue area and gazebos with tables, a covered swimming pool . Also in the park there is an old windmill that can be admired and, soon, a brand new Rosarium that will cover an area of ​​over 5000 square meters. 7,500 roses from 150 varieties will be planted here, as well as various trees, shrubs and perennial herbaceous plants. For those who want to spend even more time in Ciuperca Park, it is good to know that there are a few places where you can eat or drink something (towards Isaccei street) and that you can rent hydrobikes and stand-up paddles (SUP) .

Both locations are located on Isaccei Street and together have an area of ​​over 5,000 square meters. In the Delta park we find numerous green spaces, pedestrian walkways, benches, but also the recently rehabilitated bandstand. The three artesian fountains offer an attractive game especially for families with children. It is located on Strada Gloriei and has an area of ​​25,982 square meters. The park has pedestrian walkways, benches, green spaces and a recently rehabilitated gazebo. In this park are the ruins of the Aegyssus fortress, the History and Archeology Museum of Tulcea, but also the Independence Monument, hence the name of the park. We recommend everyone a visit to this place, in the second part of the day, but especially at sunset, the view next to the monument being impressive. RECOMMENDATION: If you like to exercise, dress in something casual and climb the stairs a few times. It will be the most effective way to get some cardio outdoors.

It is located on Strada Isaccei and has an area of ​​32,200 square meters. The park is located near the Multipurpose Hall and has pedestrian walkways, green spaces, benches, a gazebo with tables, a children's playground and an ecological toilet. Here you will be able to admire the busts of 14 prominent personalities of Dobrogea, to which are added those of Carol I and Mihail Kogălniceanu, located in other parts of the municipality.

It is located on Păcii Street, opposite the Clock Church, in the Pieței Noi area. It has an area of ​​only 4200 square meters, but it has many green spaces, recently restored pedestrian paths, benches, an artesian fountain and the bust of the painter Constantin Gavenea.

It is located on Strada Păcii and despite the area of ​​only 1525 square meters, it is a peaceful place. There are also several pedestrian alleys here, recently renovated urban furniture, a gazebo, an artesian fountain, but especially the bust of the great Romanian poet, Mihai Eminescu.

This is the central square of the Tulcea Municipality, also known among the locals as the Civic Square. The monument to Mircea the Elder was originally erected in the years 1900-1902 on the place known until 1947 as Mircea Square (today the roundabout at the Delta Hotel). The monument had a 5 m plinth, made of granite blocks. The statue, 4 m high, represented the ruler in armor, with a mantle on his shoulder, with a princely crown on his head, with a sword in his left hand and a mace in his right hand. At the base of the plinth were placed two lions holding under their paws trophies obtained by the ruler in the battles with the enemy. In front of the monument was placed a bronze plate on which was engraved the title of the ruler "Io Mircea Mare Voivode and Lord of both parts over the entire Danube to the Great Sea and the fortress of the ruling Darstor". Destroyed by the occupation troops in 1916-1918, only the plinth remained from the monument, which is still preserved today in the T.A.V.S. park. from Peace Street. Despite all the efforts of some initiative committees established in the interwar period, the monument was never restored. In 1940, the statue of King Ferdinand I, brought from Ismail, was briefly placed on the plinth of the monument. The current equestrian statue of Mircea the Elder in the city center is the work of the sculptor Ion Jalea and was unveiled on December 1, 1972. On the frontispiece of the pedestal, on a marble slab, is written "Mircea the Elder. Lord of the Romanian Land 1386 – 1418". An initiative of the "Galeriile Acum" Foundation in 2002 to restore the monument from 1902 ended, unfortunately, with a monument that did not respect its proportions or all its elements. Also in the Civic Square you will be able to admire a beautiful artesian fountain, designed from mosaic with elements and details that speak of the fauna and flora specific to the delta. Also, another impressive mosaic can be admired on the Belvedere Block. It is a very colorful work made by the plastic artist Spiru Chintilă in 1978, presenting in a socialist style the socio-economic development of the city after the Second World War. RECOMMENDATION: In this square, in addition to the wide open space, there are numerous benches for relaxation and rest, a playground, but also the already famous pigeons fed by everyone. Therefore, it is a place not to be missed for families with children. Piața Sf. Gheorghe este piața centrală a orașului Tulcea și se întinde pe o suprafață de 2400 m.p. Ansamblul pieței este alcătuit dintr-un platou acoperit și unul descoperit, destinat comercializării de legume fructe, cereale, flori, plante medicinale, produse apicole, utilizat atât de persoane juridice cât și de producători agricoli individuali. Piața dispune și de structuri de vânzare special amenajate pentru comercializarea cărnii și a produselor din carne, a laptelui și produselor lactate, a peștelui și produselor din pește, pâine și produse de panificație, produse alimentare preambalate, produse nealimentare și de uz casnic. Complexul comercial “Module de aluminiu”, situat in imediata vecinatate a parcului, este alcatuit din 36 spatii comerciale de unde se pot achizitiona atat produse alimentare cat si nealimentare. In interiorul complexului este amplasata hala pentru produse lactate, unde isi desfasoara activitatea doar producatori particulari si magazinul Carniprod. Platoul acoperit al pieței a fost realizat în anul 2009 și asigură funcționarea pentru 124 de utilizatori, în sectoare distincte pentru producători agricoli și persoane juridice, la tonete moderne din poliester armat cu fibră de sticlă. Platoul descoperit asigură 101 locuri de vânzare la tonete PAFS și mese betonate. Complexul comercial Fortuna (cladirea centrala a pietei) are amplasat la parter hala pentru produse de origine animala, unde isi desfasoara activitatea un numar de 21 agenti economici. In aceasta hala exista si o circumscriptie a Directiei Sanitar Veterinara si pentru Siguranta Alimentelor. La etajul cladirii se desfasoara acivitate de comercializare produse nealimentare, structurata intr-un numar de 34 standuri comerciale, precum si birourile administrative ale S.C. Agropiete S.A. Tulcea a implementat în 2023 un Sistem Digital în piețele din municipiu, având ca scop principal crearea unei comunicări eficiente și transparente pe relația producător – consumator – administrator al piețelor.  Harta digitală pentru Piața Nouă a fost prezentată azi printr-un eveniment public de Rodica Pascale, directorul Agropiețe SA Tulcea și de viceprimarul George Șinghi, însă această hartă digitală, așa cum îi spune și numele, poate fi găsită AICI. Potrivit conducerii societății, în prima etapă a digitalizării, încă de anul trecut, cu introducerea în platforma digitală pe de o parte a tonetelor care au fost personalizate cu cod QR, după care a urmat introducerea în baza de date a producătorilor agricoli și a comercianților. O muncă laborioasă, mai ales că Piața Nouă din Tulcea este a doua piață agro-alimentară din țară care implementează acest sistem cu identificare a vânzătorilor  (producători sau comercianți) prin cod QR, însă prima din România cu trasabilitatea produselor: toate datele privind produsele de pe tonetă inclusiv cu fotografii de la terenul de pe care au fost recoltate. ”Orice comerciant care dorește să închirieze o tonetă sau un spațiu în piață, poate vedea pe un monitor care structură este disponibilă și care este ocupată, precum și modalitatea de închiriere (cu contract sau în regim forfetar). Each house is decorated in the style of the locality it represents and, at the entrance, it displays an "identity card" in the form of a board with information in Romanian and English, where tourists and locals who cross its threshold can find out where it is where the locality is located, how to get to it, what is representative of the place, what the people in the area do and other specific information, if any. For example, next to the Periprava House, there is information about the dark past of the locality where the communists exterminated thousands of people, also helped by the high degree of isolation of the commune. Along with Periprava, there are also the houses of Ceatalchioi, Chilia, Jurilovca, Mila 23, Crișan, Sulina, Sfântul Gheorghe, Murighiol, Letea. Visiting prices: 10 lei for adults, 5 lei for those up to 14 years old and free for children up to 6 years old. Especially in spring and summer, the location hosts more and more extensive events, from painting workshops to thematic workshops and from photo sessions for newlyweds to various festivals. The first edition of the "Scrumbii de Florii" event, a complex gastronomic festival, was organized and hosted in this place by the Fisherman's Village between April 26-28.
